Development News - 5/29/2014

Well, it's been a while since we did a post on development news, and we do have a few exciting things we are working on. First and foremost is the continued development toward getting GhostBSD 4.0 released - this is a constant project and we are constantly making improvements and fixing bugs with each release.

As far as development project go, we are working on a peice of software for Google Drive that would fit seamlessly in with the OS - this project is kind of on the backburner for the time being (probably until 4.0 gets officially released).

Focusing on MATE.

When I started this project at the time Nahuel joined me, GhostBSD was about having the best Gnome desktop experience, today having a bunch of desktop that do not work correctly with BSD. Gnome 3 had not seen ports yet, because it is basically made for GNU/Linux. I had make a critical decision lately with the rest of the team to abandon all the other desktops in favor of MATE, which is the most suitable solution for GhostBSD a workstation. The MATE Desktop Environment is the continuation of GNOME 2 desktop Environment with huge improvement.

A brief Summary of in 2013

Last year I have wrote an blog post call Summary of the GhostBSD problem in 2012, This year I decide wrote an other post that to Summarize 2013. 2013 was the year were I have made test experimentation with GhostBSD and it help me to defined what GhostBSD should focus on. This was a hard year to to have lots to do alone, with all the burden I had for myself, I had forgot GhostBSD was about having the best desktop experience for a BSD Desktop. Not having a bunch of desktop that does not work correctly with BSD, for the moment the only Desktop other then KDE that work well with BSD is MATE.
