Compiz bug

Ok i have read your bugreport but i have still a Problem.

I cant kill compiz at the live DVD (1.5 amd64 with installer) because wenn i push starg+alt+F2 the shell apears but i dont know the login (live DVD). So i am not be able to test the system or to install it. Can you please tell me what i should do?

problem installing GhostBSD 1.5x86

I'm new to the"BSD world". i've just downloaded my first BSD, the GhostBSD1.5-x86. i've checked the md5 sum after downloaded, and its correspond.
i boot via the ghostBSD dvd, and it appears that the OS is loading. everything looks fine at the beginning. then appears a small watch in the center of the screen whereby i know that my desktop is about to appear.

But after the watch appear in the center of the screen, my screen keep flickering. after a while my desktop appears. again the screen keep flickering. then lots of error message appear, saying problem with the applets (such as clock applet and so on), and asking me to 'Delete' or 'don't delete' the applets. whether i choose delete or don't delete, the messages keep appearing.

the screen keeps flickering and after a while i have a black screen with error messages such as file system full.

My computer configuration is:
Processor: intel dual core E2160 @ 1.8Ghz
RAM : 2 GB

Any idea what's the problem and how to solve it?
To run the live GhostBSD dvd, is 1 GB RAM enough?

I have been looking at GhostBSD for a while and have been trying out the live images. I have noticed quite a few grammatical and spelling mistakes throughout the website. Do you want me to email them to you?

Not trying to be horrible, I know your French/Canadian and your English is much better than my French. Just though you could need a hand?.

Suggestion to devellopers

I would suggest that devellopers include OpenBox.
As far as i am concern i encountered some freaze problem during the booting of Gnome, after the icons showing up.

-Processor : Athlon 3500+
-Mem : 1GB
-HD : 250GB
-VD : Ati x200 xpress (on-board)

BootManager...

Hi !

I got a problem with bootin my installed GhostBSD...
If I choose to install the bootManager, it erase my Grub (located in the MBR), but if i do not install it, i can't manage to boot from that same grub !

GhostBSD is installed on the sda3 partition of my hdd, so in grub i'd put :

title  GhostBSD 1.5
root   (hd0,2,a)
kernel /boot/loader

It's good isn't it ? So what's the problem ?

home folder on installed system is named "eric" (logged user name is quite different, of course)

Hey everyone !

For those who wants, I can help you modify the pc-sysinstall.cfg file needed for the installation of GhostBSD !
I only need:
-The name of your user/ your real name
-The number of the partition you want to install GhostBSD on.
If you want to install the BSD boot manager or not
-The Size you want for the system, your /home directory, and the swap.
-your location, keyboard configuration, and the language in which you want to use the system.

I think its all you need to begin, if not, waiting for infos

How soon will a build be released thats able to be installed? I just don't wanna try cloning the cd to my ext3 partition.. Just curious as to how soon a release date is scheduled..

ZFS and partitioning

Hello,

I am downloading the DVD of GhostBSD 1.5 AMD64. I have several questions:

1) Is this a live DVD? Can I try it before installing it to the HD?

2) Does the installer have its own partition tools or do I need to create the partitions before installing? In the later case, do I also need to format the partition?

3) Can I use ZFS for all the partition (except Swap)?

4) An the more important : Can you suggest me a good partition scheme for a 320 GB drive?

A lot of users have report problem with a white screen. that's come from compiz. Most of the card are ati. If you want to see the desktop you have to kill compiz. ctrl+alt+f2 login the shell and

killall compiz

To return in the desktop ctrl+alt+f9

Well I am starting this topic because I did not see one yet in this forum. So I am Marc and I have little experience with BSD. I have used PC-BSD and what was stopping me from switching to it was the fact that it only comes with KDE. I read about this Distro from Distrowatch and was very excited about it. So here I am waiting for this Distro to mature. I have downloaded the Live CD 1.5 x64. It booted fine on my system but ran into some issues with gnome panel crashing after using for a bit. No big deal since it is still new and with time will become a great OS I am sure. Well can't wait for 2.0 and thanks for all the hard work on getting this BSD Gnome OS going.

nautilus does't mount any partitions

sorry, maybe that's usual in BSD and I am still a newbie, but I used to mount linux and windows partitions in linux nautilus just with a click (with ntfs-3g installed), can it work with GhostBSD?
